Plugged In

While in Moatize, Mozambique we were able to help Pastor Banda start the process of getting electricity in his home. His home is not only used for himself and his family but also for anyone in need in his church or for those coming to visit the church from a long distance and even for the community in need. The first step in the process was getting the home wired for electricity.

Seeing this made me think of how we get plugged into our source of power. We think money is power. We think physical strength is power. We think influence is power. Power, by definition, is simply the capability to do or to accomplish something. Money, strength, and influence can accomplish much, but is that the source of our power?  In the book of Acts right before Jesus Christ, the Light of the World, would rise to heaven he informed His disciples that they would, “…receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” – Acts 1:8 These men had seen Jesus accomplish many things in His three-year ministry and now He was giving them the power to continue through His Holy Spirit. Our power comes from God. He will give us the power to do everything He has willed for us to do. He has empowered us. If you want power, turn to the Lord. Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. – Romans 15:13
