As Interim Pastor of Geiger Memorial Brethren Church I wanted to reach out to you to not only let you know that the work of the Lord is continuing in the house of the Lord, but the church is also continuing to reach beyond the walls of our building at 2543 West Lehigh Avenue as two of us from Geiger Memorial will be traveling to Tanzania to minister in the adult and juvenile prisons.
Jesus tells us in His great commission to “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things I have commanded you…” – Matthew 28:19-20. And I take that passage very seriously as a man of God and Geiger Memorial takes it seriously as a body of believers who believe in doing the work that God has called us to do.
On this mission we will be traveling to Tanzania in East Africa. We will be working with the Iyunga Church of Christ and the Good News Jail and Prison Ministry Tanzania to enter prisons in Tanzania in efforts to meet their spiritual and physical need. Physically, prisoners in Africa frequently can go over a week without bare necessities such as soap or a toothbrush so we will bring in enough toiletries for all of the men and women in the prisons and juvenile facilities that we visit. Spiritually, these men, women, and children are often times morally bankrupt or suffering from hopelessness and need to hear a Word from the Lord. We will not only bring a message from the Lord but will be bringing Bibles to those incarcerated. It is not uncommon on these missions to meet someone who has never owned their own Bible. We will also hold a seminar in Dar Es Salaam for those interested in ministering in the prison so that even when we leave the work of discipling can continue.
Your help is needed as we look to raise $5000 to cover the costs of all the items and for the inmates and the seminar for prospective ministers.
You can send your donation to Geiger Memorial Brethren Church, 2543 West Lehigh Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19132. You can also donate by Venmo to @Adarrel-Fisher or by clicking this link.
