Word of the Week – You Are The Miracle

And truly Jesus did many other signs in the presence of His disciples, which are not written in this book; but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name.  – John 20:30-31

Non-believers and even some believers wonder why the miracles of Jesus don’t occur regularly in 2020. Even though I do believe that with the power of the Holy Spirit we can do miracles we must remember four things. Number one – Jesus did miracles not as a magician but for a purpose, for people to believe He was God…John 20:30-31. John wrote his gospel to show that Jesus was in fact God. John does not start with a genealogy like Matthew or Luke.  John is not trying to highlight Jesus the Servant like Mark.  John is trying to show us that Jesus is God.  “In the beginning was the Word. The Word was with God the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God.  All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.”(John 1:1-3)  And the miracles in John strengthen His argument.   Number two – our faith is not built on miracles but in the Word of God…Romans 10:17 (faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God). Thirdly – people who need miracles to believe will keep asking for miracles…Mark 15:31-32. And lastly, you as a Christian are a miracle.  The fact that Christ saved you is a miracle.  When we look at the great commission in Matthew 28:18-20 or in Mark 16:15-16 Jesus does not instruct us to go and do miracles but simply go and preach the Gospel.  A good place to start is with your testimony which is what God has done for you.  Share your testimony with the world…Ephesians 2:4-13.  That is something miraculous!!
